“They did, yes,” he says with a slight wince. “They apparently took the term ‘body building’ quite literally, actually.”

Pause.

“Quite. Unfortunately, terrible people can also have terrible senses of humor.”

"Did you kill him too?"

Because he should have done, it sounds like.

“No. I wasn’t exactly in a position to. The only time I met him, I needed a favor. And he was being… kept. By someone else.”

He sighs.

“Unfortunately, even monsters have politics.”

"Uh huh. What d'you mean, kept? Like...a pet?"

"More like a prisoner," he admits, and then he has to pause. "...perhaps a bit like a pet. Helen is...

"Helen is anything but straightforward."

"I'm going to level with you, 'straightforward' isn't the word I'd use to describe anything you've ever told me," Cass points out.

"Something I am well aware of. If it was simple, I probably wouldn't have been kidnapped as many times as I have."

Cassandra just stares blankly at him for a while, then shakes her head.

"Yeah, you definitely need to work out more."

“…I’m not disagreeing with you though I will point out they had me outnumbered… most of the time.”

"Don't worry, I'm not gonna judge you for being easy to kidnap," Cassandra says. Judgementally. "I am gonna put together a training schedule."

His eyes make clear exactly how much he believes that, but he nods. Fine, good. He could use it.

"I will do my best to abide by your schedule."
